Power Flushing Matters......
Summer and your heating system
As it gets warmer and you start to think about shutting your central heating system down for the summer, you may be tempted to ignore the symptoms of problems with sludge until next winter.
In fact, this can be an expensive move because the inactivity while the heating system is off can lead to the sludge solidifying. Remedial action can then be more difficult and expensive.

A much better plan is to have the system power flushed at your convenience during the summer rather than as an emergency job when the house is cold!
Do you live In a new house?
Since 1990 most 'new builds' plastic pipework hasbeen used for some or all their internal pipework . This policy was, and still is, driven by building regulations rather than cost although there is a considerable labour saving.
British Gas recognised soon afterwards that plastic plumbing allows 'air ingress' which accelerates corrosion. To counter this, 'barrier pipe' with three internal layers was introduced.
However, barrier pipe is more expensive and many builders did not use it. Only after 2000 was it installed as the 'norm' .
Problems will occur with plastic pipework, particularly on downstairs radiators and with long horizontal circuits. During the hot summer of 2006 when heating systems were left off for long periods these problems were made worse.
The symptoms that can indicate trouble with your plastic pipework are:
 • one or more radiators (usually in a row) stop working
 • one side of radiators stay cold
 • water samples from radiators are coffee-coloured indicating recent corrosion.
PowerFlushUK always carry two sets of equipment to enable individual problems and localised blockages to be tackled while the general power flush continues.
Noisy Boiler?
We will guarantee to cure boiler noise on a no win, no fee basis.

(Except, that is, for the Potterton boiler that featured on BBC's Watchdog program!!)

Small-bore pipework?
Some central heating systems use small-bore or mini-bore pipework (8mm and 10mm) in copper or plastic.

Many contractors will not deal with this narrow pipework but you can rest assured that PowerFlushUK has the specialist skills, tools and experience needed to tackle these systems.
